VSSR

Techno and the Netherlands; a long-lasting love story whose romance has intensified even more over the past few years. VSSR is one of the offspring this liaison has recently brought forth. After first flirtations as a dancer in 2016, the ambitious Dutchie quickly found himself fully under the spell of this multi-layered subculture. To give his newfound passion the space it deserves, the first pair of decks soon followed. Like any artist with a progressive approach to their work, VSSR went through various musical stages in the beginning, which eventually led him to the creative vision he transports in his DJ sets today: 90s paired with new school, consisting of loopy, tribal patterns. Fully functional in every aspect! To put the inspiration gained on the dance floor into a creative context, the logical step to start producing felt like a no-brainer. Be it the sound of the late 90s and early 2000s, Dutch hip hop or even jazz rap; all these impulses helped VSSR to shape the character and personality of his output, which can be heard in various releases on BCCO, Synergie or Codec.
In order to create a platform for the lived spirit, but also for giving young, local and like-minded artists the chance to grow, VSSR founded ANTIDOTE. What started out as a long-term idea, developed into an event and podcast series with an associated label, which was able to integrate itself firmly into Amsterdam’s nightlife. Facilitating social connections within the scene, creating safer spaces for everyone and providing energy with the universal language called music. With these claims as a guideline, ANTIDOTE and mastermind VSSR managed to make a name for themselves far beyond the borders of the Dutch capital. You can’t deny the difficulty to establish sustainable constants in these fast moving and uncertain times. VSSR, however, definitely has come to stay!
